Is it impossible not to plagiarize anymore without compromising writing style?

This may sound like a weird question, and I do try to scan my essays before handing something in. However, I feel really silly having to '__' '__' and '___' all the time because some words/concepts are too common in the english dictionary or they have been written verbatim thousands of times by other studies citing other studies etc. It's just cramping my style having to list over 30-40 references for a 1500 word essay and having so many '___' '__' just looks weird and unnatural. Can you accidently be accused of plagiarism for writing your points in your own style even if there is no other way of putting it? what can be done about this as there only so many words that can be substituted without compromising sentence comprehension.
